Alex began working in the automotive industry directly after high school, completing an apprenticeship with a local employer, and then continued to gain practical experience and develop his knowledge whilst working in various areas of the sector before moving to North Staffordshire.
He started his teaching career working as a tutor for a private training provider in 2012. Exclaimed as a natural, he completed a teaching qualification at a local university whilst working full-time. During this period, he began to develop and lead courses suited to a range of pupils, from high needs and young offenders to adult industry CPD and staff development classes.
Alex started at the College as a lecturer in 2016, taking on the role of Centre Coordinator within the Automotive Department. He completed a HND in Mechanical Engineering in 2016 and developed a relationship between the engineering and automotive courses. While lecturing across both departments, he continued to adapt the programmes and delve into new technologies, taking on the delivery of cutting-edge courses, such as Virtual Engineering and Additive Manufacturing, and led on the implementation of the 3D printing facilities at Cheshire College.
In 2022, Alex was appointed to the position of Assistant Director for the department he is so passionate about. He focuses on the learner experience and the development of curricula to keep ahead of the rapidly progressing industry to ensure students are sought after when graduating from the College.
