Diego Alonso-Álvarez

Diego Alonso Álvarez is an experienced research software engineer and academic currently serving as the Head of Research Software Engineering at Imperial College London since January 2013, where responsibilities have included team leadership and advanced research in photovoltaics, specifically focusing on low emissivity coatings and hybrid PV-thermal applications. In addition to the role at Imperial College, Diego holds a fellowship at the Software Sustainability Institute, which commenced in 2020. Prior experience includes research associate positions at Heriot-Watt University and contributions as a PhD student at the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Madrid. Diego Alonso Álvarez holds a Licenciatura in Ciencias físicas from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, attained between 2000 and 2005.
