Andrea Kramer has a strong background in restoration ecology and conservation science. Andrea started their career as a Summer Research Assistant at Macalester College in 1997 and continued to work in research roles at various organizations. Andrea later became an Environmental Education and Restoration Intern at Dodge Nature Center in 1999. Andrea then joined the Chicago Botanic Garden in 2000, where they held roles including Research Associate and Ph.D. candidate and Endangered Plant Specialist. During this time, they developed and managed grant-funded plant conservation and restoration projects and collaborated with national and international botanic gardens. In 2008, Andrea served as the Executive Director of BGCI US, based at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Andrea then pursued a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 2003 to 2008. Andrea's most recent role at the Chicago Botanic Garden was Senior Director of Restoration and Associate Conservation Scientist. In this position, they conducted restoration ecology research, fostered collaborations, mentored students, and conducted additional plant conservation and restoration ecology research as needed. Andrea also held roles as a Conservation Scientist and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the field of ecological genetics. Throughout their career, Andrea has shown expertise in plant conservation, restoration ecology, and research.
Andrea Kramer earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Environmental Science from Macalester College. Andrea then pursued higher education at the University of Illinois Chicago, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution. Their education history includes completing a four-year B.A. degree program at Macalester College and a five-year Ph.D. program at the University of Illinois Chicago.
