Gretchen Sterba

Fellow, Racial Justice Writers' Room Cohort at Chicago Reader

Gretchen Sterba is an accomplished writer and educator with a focus on racial justice and community journalism. Currently serving as a Fellow in the Racial Justice Writers' Room at the Chicago Reader, Gretchen has also contributed as a freelance writer for South Side Weekly and held various roles including Teaching Artist at 826CHI and Social Media Manager and Marketing Coordinator for Working in the Schools. Previous experience includes writing for Static Media, teaching English at Distinctive Schools, and leading youth programs at Friends of the Forest Preserves. With a Bachelor of Arts in Magazine Journalism and Creative Writing from Columbia College Chicago and a Master of Education from Roosevelt University, Gretchen combines a strong educational background with hands-on experience in writing, teaching, and community engagement.
