Lauryn Azu has a diverse range of work experience. In 2019, they worked as a Summer Camp Counselor for the College Access Program. In 2020, they took on various roles, including Audience Engagement Editor at the JED Institute, Intern at WDET 101.9 FM Detroit's NPR Station, and the Editor In Chief at The Black Voice. Lauryn also served as a Managing Editor for Bell Magazine from 2018 to 2019. In 2021, Lauryn worked as an Audience and Copy Desk Intern at the Chicago Tribune Media Group and as a Public Engagement and Marketing Assistant at the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism. In 2022, they interned as a Speed & Trending Desk Intern at The Wall Street Journal before joining the Chicago Tribune Media Group as a Deputy Content Editor. Additionally, Lauryn was an Election Integrity Fellow at the UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication Center for Journalism Ethics in 2020, where they assisted with research and outreach related to media ethics during the election cycle.
Lauryn Azu completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies, with a Certificate in Digital Studies, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Lauryn attended the university from 2018 to 2022.
In Spring 2020, Lauryn Azu participated in a study abroad program at the University of Havana in Cuba. During their time there, they studied Cultural Studies, Art History, and Economics.
Before their university education, Lauryn Azu graduated Summa Cum Laude from West Bloomfield High School in 2018.
