Marta Alvira-Hammond

Marta Alvira-Hammond is a Research Scientist II at Child Trends, with a rich background in sociology and demography. With experience in various roles at Child Trends since June 2014, including Senior Research Analyst and Research Fellow for the National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families, Marta specializes in quantitative research, focusing on immigration, health, and family dynamics. Currently a PhD candidate at Bowling Green State University, Marta's dissertation explores Asian-Hispanic fertility differences among immigrant women and intergenerational patterns. Marta has also worked as a research assistant with expertise in demography, taught language at CEIP Amador de los Ríos, and translated materials for the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Educational qualifications include a PhD and M.A. in Sociology from Bowling Green State University and a B.A. in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
