PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the procurement and logistics officer, the driver is responsible for providing excellent driving duties and ensure the vehicles in your care are road worthy, safe and well maintained.
KEY DUTIES
Coordinate logistical and driver movements in response to programs and project trips need.
Undertake office, program or project errands, e.g. bank runs, specific procurement and sundries need, equipment repairs, paying bills, checking postal address and delivering letters etc.
All vehicle movements/bookings are logged in the vehicle logbook/white-board and the log sheets are adequately maintained
All vehicles in your care are registered and have current safety stickers, fully functional, safe to drive, have sufficient oil, water and fuel and are kept clean and tidy at all times.
High standards of care and safety are maintained at all times.
Ensure a proper inspection of any hired vehicles for ChildFund work purposes is conducted before and after use especially travelling to the field i.e. checking of tyres, insurance and registration and safety stickers etc.
Any vehicle maintenance issues are reported to the appropriate person when they occur or as soon as possible and any minor maintenance issues are fixed either by yourself or reported and fixed promptly.
Must be on standby at all times near venue or location of project activities especially during field trips for any emergency driving needs.
Must keep a fully charged and reliable mobile phone with credits and is switched on at all times during office hours and when travelling for CFPNG work purposes.
Ensure the PNG motor vehicle traffic rules are strictly followed i.e. no taking short cuts by driving on footpaths or public grounds to overtake congested traffic while driving ChildFund PNG labelled vehicles or hired vehicles, no driving through orange/red light at traffic lights junctions, speeding unnecessarily, sudden accelerating causing squeaking noise or wheel spinning on graveled road etc.
Conduct weekly vehicle checks and provide report on availability of toolkit, first aid kit, vehicles maintenance tools/equipment.
The vehicle code of conduct is strictly enforced.
Ensure compliance with CF policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
DESIRABLE
Appropriate appearance and attire (friendly manner with all passengers)
Experience in working with NGOs/international development sector.
Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding or sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment (SEAH) risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding and PSEAH policy and procedures, and conduct yourself consistent with those policies.

Other Information: Appointment to this position is dependent upon successful completion of criminal background and reference checks.
Housing will not be provided by ChildFund.
This position is open to Papua New Guinea nationals only.
