Project Coordinator - Accelerate Immunization Health System Strengthening

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As the Project Coordinator – AIHSS, you will be responsible for delivering and overseeing the implementation of ChildFund PNG’s and Northern Provincial Health Authority (NPHA) “AIHSS Project in three districts in Northern Province. You will manage a team of two staff: Project Officer and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer. You will work in close collaboration with the NPHA GEDSI Officer to ensure effective planning, organising, implementing and coordination of activities in each of the three districts. You will also ensure effective collaboration with key district stakeholders in liaison with the Northern Provincial Health Authority.      

KEY DUTIES

  • Provide technical and management capacity building for EPI/PHC related activities to NPHA, including monitoring visits to District Health Clinics, providing training, and support to EPI sand PHC staff in Northern Province on reporting and data management;
  • Work together with the NPHA PFHC, DFHCs and the PHIO to apply best practise and lessons learnt from previous RI/MCH and CF PNG CDS and APHCOS project in regards to RI/PHC activities in Northern Province with regards to implementation, management, M&E;
  • Lead the design of strategies and detailed project implementation plans on how to implement project activities for the district, while considering limited available resources;
  • Coordinate quarterly meetings with the District Health staff and volunteers to mobilize resources, map out and share with district health coordinators and family health coordinator important dates for outreach clinics;
  • Work closely with the PHIO on how to capture data in line with the project MEL Framework including GEDSI data;
  • Timely collection of data on project indicators using appropriate tools, with data entered and/or uploaded on specific data bases;
  • Responsible for drafting quarterly, six monthly and annual performance reports, with 2 project related case studies per year;
  • Analyse regular reporting data and provide suggestions for improvement during periodic meetings to present project results;
  • Work together with the Provincial Family Health Coordinator Teams to update all Health Facility, Micro plans and ensure to track proposition of mobile and outreach clinics held per facility;
  • Timely collection of data on project indicators using appropriate tools, with data entered and/or uploaded on specific data bases;
  • Responsible for drafting quarterly, six monthly and annual performance reports, with 2 project related case studies per year;
  • Analyse regular reporting data and provide suggestions for improvement during periodic meetings to present project results;
  • Work together with the Provincial and District Disease Control Teams to update all TB registers, presumptive registers and Laboratory registers. Notify SPO and PM on how best we can support the BMU officers in updating these books.
  • Ensure that all mobile and outreach clinics held are integrated.
  • Ensure compliance with CF policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Rural Health - HEO
  • 4 years’ proven experience in project implementation
  • Understanding of PNG’s development context, activities and actors.
  • Proven experience in facilitating training and capacity building of Health Care Workers and Community Health Volunteers
  • Proven experience in EPI and MCH sectors
  • Experience in GEDSI transformation work
  • Understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods of monitoring and evaluation.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience in working with NGOs in cross-cultural setting.
  • Develop policies and guidelines.
  • Experience in a middle management role
  • Strong understanding of Health Systems in PNG
  • Experience working with immunization programs
  • Experience working in Northern Province an advantage
