Debra Fitzpatrick has extensive experience in policy and research, with their most recent role as Policy and Research Director at the Children's Defense Fund. Before that, they served as Co-Director at the Center on Women, Gender, and Public Policy, where they engaged in dialogue and policy-making for the common good. Prior to that, they were Associate Director at the Center on Women and Public Policy and Program Director at the Center for School Change. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Project Administrator at the School of Public Health and as a Committee Administrator and Legislative Assistant in the Minnesota Senate. Their work experience spans over three decades, demonstrating their commitment to addressing disparities and challenges in various sectors.

Debra Fitzpatrick holds a BA degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota, which they obtained from 1983 to 1996. Debra also attended the Humphrey School at the University of Minnesota, where they earned an MA degree in Public Policy and Public/Nonprofit Management from 1989 to 1996.
