Deirdre O'Connor has extensive work experience in various roles in the IT industry. Deirdre is currently the Director of Information Technology at Children's Health Ireland (CHI) starting from April 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Programme Manager ICT at VHI Health and Wellbeing from August 2019 to April 2020. Deirdre also worked as a Senior Program Manager / Project Director as a self-employed professional in 2019. In 2016, they held the position of Head of PMO / PMO Director at Melbourne Health. Before that, they worked as a Senior Project & Test Program Manager at The Royal Children's Hospital from May 2015 to November 2016. Deirdre also served as a Senior Project and Test Manager at ACT Health & SSICT, ACT Government from 2010 to March 2015 and as an IT Analyst at RBS from October 2003 to July 2010.
Deirdre O'Connor obtained an MSc in Natural Sciences with a focus on Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Genetics from Trinity College Dublin between 1995 and 1999. Deirdre then pursued a Higher Diploma in Information Technology with a specialization in Java, VB, Assembler, and Cobol at Dublin City University from 2001 to 2002. Additional certifications they have earned include the ISEB Certificate in Software Testing and the ISEB Diploma in Business Systems Analysis and Design from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in 2013. Deirdre also obtained the ITIL Foundation Level certification from the Australian Institute of Management in 2011. In 2018, Deirdre completed a course on Accelerating Implementation Methodology - overcoming personal and cultural barriers to change, offered by NSW Health. Additionally, they hold the PRINCE2® 2017 Practitioner certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice.
