Lorel Colgin has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Lorel began their career in 2001 as a lecturer at the Centre for Continuing Education, where they designed curriculum and delivered lectures on biological science topics to engage the general public. Lorel then worked as a freelance editor at Boston BioEdit Inc from 2005 to 2006. In 1997, they joined CMRI as a Senior Research Officer and held the position for 15 years until 2012. During this time, they contributed to research endeavors. From 2012 to the present, Lorel has been working at the Children's Medical Research Institute. Lorel initially served as the Science Communications & Grants Manager and then transitioned into the role of Head of Marketing and Communications in 2013.
Lorel Colgin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Microbiology from Oregon State University, which was obtained from 1989 to 1992. Lorel then pursued a PhD in Pathology at the University of Washington from 1992 to 1997. In 2013, Lorel completed their Master of Marketing degree at Monash University. Recently, in 2021, they participated in the Executive Ready Program offered by Women & Leadership Australia to expand their knowledge in Business Administration and Management.
