Xiaoyan Song

Xiaoyan "Shaoyan" Song serves as the Chief Infection Control Officer at Children's National Hospital and has held various positions within epidemiology and infection control since July 2007. With a strong focus on infection prevention, healthcare quality, and patient safety, Song has significantly contributed to reducing healthcare-associated infections and enhancing institutional capabilities in response to outbreaks such as Ebola and COVID-19. Additionally, Song holds a professorship at The George Washington University School of Medicine and has published extensively on COVID-19, developing innovative protective equipment and leading collaborative projects that integrate traditional Chinese medicine in patient management. Prior experience includes positions at Johns Hopkins University and The Johns Hopkins Hospital, contributing to research and the implementation of critical healthcare technologies. Song earned a PhD in Epidemiology from The Johns Hopkins University.
