Karen Templeton

Karen Templeton is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Senior Director of Communications at the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation since March 2023. Previously, Karen held positions including Director of Communications for the University of Virginia from October 2021 to March 2023, and Director of Communications for the Office of the Provost at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from December 2019 to October 2021, where responsibilities included managing communications, media training, and donor relations. Karen also served as the Director of Annual Giving at Samford University, and as the Director of Outreach and Communications at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where a wide range of public relations activities were managed. Earlier career experience includes serving as a Media Coordinator for the USDA - Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, focusing on media relations and public affairs strategies. Karen holds a Master of Arts in Developmental Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Trinity Washington University.
