What You Will Do

As the Engineering Manager you primary responsibilities will be to identify and purchase assets to support the Chomps growth and maintain all company owned assets. You will collaborate with internal teams and third party partners to identify areas of investment to continue to optimize quality and manufacturing efficiencies. 

Responsibilities

Procurement and Purchasing: 

  • Identify, evaluate, and select vendors for thermoforming packaging machines and secondary packaging automation equipment. 
  • Create and maintain CAPEX schedule inclusive or ROI mapping 
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality. 
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely acquisition of equipment 

Maintenance and Repair: 

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for thermoforming packaging machines and secondary packaging automation equipment. 
  • Coordinate with third-party facilities to schedule routine maintenance activities and inspections. 
  • Oversee troubleshooting and repair processes to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation of equipment. 
  • Provide technical support and guidance to third-party facility staff on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging equipment. 

Performance Monitoring and Optimization: 

  • Monitor the performance metrics of packaging equipment to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement. 
  • Implement measures to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity in packaging operations. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address any operational challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices in packaging operations. 

Who You Are 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. 
  • Proven experience (5 years) in managing engineering projects related to packaging equipment, particularly thermoforming packaging machines and secondary packaging automation. 
  • Strong technical expertise in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging machinery and automation systems. 
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers. 
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards applicable to packaging operations. 
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time when commission equipment.

Salary Range Opportunity:

  • The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $130,000 + 20% annual bonus

Compensation Philosophy & Total Comp:

  • Our salary ranges are based on verified market data and our philosophy of paying competitively for our size and industry
  • Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company
  • In addition to base salary, full-time team members receive medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K 6% match, and monthly reimbursements for wellness and home office.
