Eleni Miltsakaki

Co-founder/Board Chair at Choosito

Eleni Miltsakaki is currently a Program Director at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Prior to this, they were Co-founder/Board Chair and Co-Founder/CEO of Choosito! Inc from 2014-2022, where they built artificial intelligence tools for personalized learning. From 2003-2018, they worked at the University of Pennsylvania, where they held various roles such as Senior Researcher, Dept. of Computer & Information Science, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Educational Technology, Lecturer of Educational Technology, Research Associate, and Postdoc at the Institute of Research in Cognitive Science. From 2018-2022, they were an AI Advisor at XPLAIN and an Advisory Board member at Lithero. From 2009-2014, they were a Co-Founder at Choosito! LLC, and from 2005-2018, they were a Lecturer (tenured position) of Computational Linguistics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Eleni also held a Graduate Research Fellow position at Educational Testing Service from 1998-2000, where they worked on improving automated detection of discourse coherence in student essays.

Eleni Miltsakaki obtained their PhD in Computational Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. Prior to that, they earned an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Essex in 1991. In addition, Eleni has received two certifications: a Coursera certification in Fine Tune BERT for Text Classification with TensorFlow obtained in October 2020, and a Coursera Course Certificates certification in Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects obtained in February 2017.
