Shar Carlini

Shar Carlini has a diverse work experience history. Shar is currently working as the Communications & Engagement Lead at the Department of Internal Affairs since September 2023. Before that, they worked as the Principal Engagement Advisor at Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley from April to September 2023. From April 2022 to April 2023, they were the Communications & Engagement Portfolio Lead City Streets at Let's Get Wellington Moving.

Prior to their current roles, Shar Carlini held the position of Senior Communications Advisor at both Capital & Coast District Health Board from May 2019 to April 2022 and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development from August 2018 to May 2019. Shar has also worked as a Senior Consultant at Carlin Valenti and Carlin Valenti Public Relations for an impressive tenure of almost 20 years, from March 1999 to August 2018.

Additionally, they have experience in brand and communications at Blis Technologies Limited and as a Researcher/Production Assistant at 5to9 Productions. Shar Carlini also completed a Master of Science Communication with a focus on natural history filmmaking at the University of Otago from January 2012 to December 2013.

Shar Carlini holds a Master's Degree in Science Communication from the University of Otago, which was obtained from 2012 to 2013. Prior to that, Carlini completed a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Media Studies from Auckland University of Technology, from 1993 to 1995. Carlini also obtained certifications in Animal Behaviour and Animal Behaviour and Welfare from Coursera in 2014.
