Mervyn McCullagh

Director, Strategy & Global Change at Christian Aid

Mervyn McCullagh has overall responsibility for leading our global change process to align the organisation with our strategy Standing Together for Dignity, Equality, For Justice. Mervyn works cross-organisationally to ensure alignment, coherence and mainstreaming into business processes. At heart is the task to ensure that Christian Aid’s understanding of Poverty, Power, Prophetic Voice and Operational Excellence is at the centre of all our decision making, planning, programmes and results.

He has extensive experience of strategy development, visioning, problem solving and consensus building with faith-based organisations and churches in the global North and the global South. Previous roles include Strategy and Partnership Consultant with the National Christian Council of Sri Lanka, Executive Officer (General Secretary) of the Irish Council of Churches and the Irish Inter-Church Meeting and Church Management and Development Consultant in Indonesia.

He is passionate about local and impact-based decision making in development, the role of the church as an agent for justice and social change, branding and communications, peace and reconciliation and how new technologies can be harnessed to effect positive change and information sharing.

Mervyn joined Christian Aid in December 2018.
