Carol Koppenaal Shrm-Scp, Sphr, Cnp

Carol Koppenaal has a diverse work experience in various human resources roles. Carol is currently the US Director of Human Resources at the Christian Reformed Church in North America. Prior to this, they worked as the Human Resources Senior Manager at John Ball Zoo and as a Human Resources Coordinator at the Family Research Council. Carol also gained experience as a Human Resources Assistant at Leprino Foods. Additionally, they served as the Vice President of Learning at The Project at GVSU at Grand Valley State University, where they focused on providing students with resume-building opportunities. Carol also worked as a Human Resources Intern at Mercy Health Partners and as a Marketing and Fundraising Intern at the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc. In addition to their HR roles, Carol also has experience as a Freshmen Women's Basketball Coach at Hudsonville High School.

Carol Koppenaal obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Public, Nonprofit, and Health Administration with a focus on Human Resources from Grand Valley State University from 2008 to 2012. During the same period, they also earned a Bachelor's of Science (B.S.) degree in Political Science and Government from the same university. In 2012, Carol Koppenaal obtained a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) certification from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. In 2014, they obtained an HR Skills Certificate from The Employer's Association. In 2017, Carol Koppenaal earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI and the Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) certification from Experience Grand Rapids. Most recently, in 2018, they obtained the SHRM-SCP certification from SHRM.
