Nicole R. Guajardo is currently the Dean of the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences at Christopher Newport University. Prior to their current position, Nicole was a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Neuropsychology and Complementary Medicine, Inc. from January 2015 to June 2016. Nicole provided direct clinical hours to adults with diverse mental health, medical, and neurological presenting issues, and they supervised doctoral level externs and masters level practicum students who provided individual counseling to a range of clients. Nicole also directed weekly didactic and case conference seminars for therapy trainees. In addition, Nicole completed pre-surgical psychological evaluations for bariatric and spinal cord stimulator patients using structured clinical interview and standardized assessments. Nicole has also coordinated crisis management policies and procedures and served as first responder for office crisis situations. Nicole has utilized an integrative approach with clients drawing from cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, solution focused, and mindfulness theory.
After completing their BA in Psychology from The College of Saint Rose, Nicole R. Guajardo pursued an MS in Community Counseling from University at Albany, SUNY. Nicole then went on to obtain their Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the same school. Nicole R. Guajardo is also certified in Basic Forensic Evaluation from the University of Virginia, Institute for Law, Psychiatry and Public Policy, and is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) from the Department of Behavioral Health, Board of Psychology. In addition, they are an EMDR Certified Therapist from emdria.org.
They work with Jason Lyons - Associate Provost for Assessment & Accreditation, Tatiana Rizova - Dean of the College of Social Sciences, and Lori Underwood - Vice Provost. Nicole R. Guajardo reports to Quentin Kidd, Provost.
