Norris Shelton

Norris Shelton, Jr has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Norris started their career in 1994 as a Consulting CSS Representative at Humana and later worked as a Software Developer at Kindred Healthcare from 1995 to 1999. From 1999 to 2003, Norris worked as a Software Architect at CNet Networks/TechRepublic, where they were responsible for supporting a large internet site and participating in various project aspects. Norris then joined Appriss in 2003 as a Software Engineer and served as the lead developer for a website providing criminal/incident history information. At Shelton Consulting from 2006 to 2012, Norris worked as a Senior Principal Consultant and played a vital role in defining technical patterns and developing portlets for a corporate intranet. Norris also worked at Stored Value Systems as a Developer/Analyst, where they contributed to creating a virtual terminal device. Norris returned to Appriss in 2011 and took on the role of a Software Engineer, overseeing the development of JusticeXchange, a nationwide criminal/incident history system for law enforcement. Since 2013, Norris has been associated with Churchill Downs Incorporated, initially as a Lead Software Engineer, then as the Director of Engineering (Application Architect), and currently as the Senior Director of Engineering (Senior Application Architect). In their current role, Norris prototypes new technologies, provides technical leadership, and supports various teams within the organization.

Norris Shelton, Jr. obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and Data Processing, with a minor in Mathematics, from the University of Louisville, J.B. Speed School. Norris also earned an Associate's degree in Information Systems and Data Processing from the same institution. Prior to that, they graduated with a diploma from Western High School. In terms of certifications, Norris Shelton, Jr. holds the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification from the Scrum Alliance, obtained in October 2019. Norris is also a Sun Certified Java Programmer, although the institution from which they obtained this certification is unknown.
