Kerri M. Bailey is the Executive Director and co-founder at Child’sPlay Therapy Center, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. A leader in the field of occupational therapy with more than 35 years of clinical experience, she has been a licensed and certified occupational therapist since graduating from UAB in 1986. Kerri is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association.
She began her career working with adults and adolescents in an in-patient rehabilitation setting. In 1992, she transitioned to school-based therapy, working with Shelby County and Vestavia Hills City Schools for 14 years. While at Vestavia Hills, Kerri obtained her certification in Assistive Technology and started the school system’s first assistive technology team. In 2000, she became a national presenter for Handwriting Without Tears and for 14 years traveled extensively training teachers, therapists, and parents. Kerri co-founded Child’sPlay Therapy Center in 2007. Since that time, Child’sPlay has grown to three locations, and become renowned in the state of Alabama for its clinical quality, focus on clinician wellbeing, and commitment to clients and families.
In 2014, Kerri was awarded the Elsie Holmes McKibbin Lectureship Award by the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association for her contributions to the profession of occupational therapy.
