Director of Cyber Threat Intelligence, Threat Hunt, and Adversarial Simulation at Cigna

Daniel Magallanes has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Daniel began their career as an Intelligence Analyst in the US Army from 2003 to 2007. Following this, they worked at Harte-Hanks, Inc. as a Gamer from 2000 to 2002.

Daniel then transitioned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) where they held multiple positions. Daniel served as an Intelligence Analyst in the Counterterrorism Division from 2008 to 2012, focusing on aviation and rail security. Daniel then worked in the Directorate of Intelligence as a Collection Manager from 2012 to 2013. In the FBI's Cyber Division, Daniel served as a Senior Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst from 2013 to 2018, specializing in point of sale malware and data breaches in the healthcare sector. Daniel also temporarily served as the Cyber Threat Program Manager at ODNI's CTIIC from 2018 to 2019, collaborating with the US Intelligence Community to combat cybercrime.

From 2019 to 2022, Daniel worked at Accenture Federal Services (AFS) in various roles. First, as the Census - Cyber Threat Intelligence Lead, they designed and implemented a CTI program for the 2020 Census. Then as the Co-CTI Lead Architect & DEI Co-Lead, they managed a team responsible for increasing AFS CTI managed security services and explored strategic partnerships.

Currently, Daniel is the Director of Cyber Threat Intelligence, Threat Hunt, and Adversarial Simulation at Cigna, starting in 2022.

Daniel Magallanes completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, from 1997 to 2000. Daniel then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Strategic Intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College, from 2009 to 2011.

In addition to their formal education, Daniel Magallanes has obtained several certifications. In June 2015, they earned the GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification from GIAC Certifications. In June 2018, they also obtained the GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence certification from the same institution. In October 2019, they earned the GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC). Recently, in January 2021, they obtained the Foundations of Operationalizing MITRE ATT&CK certification from AttackIQ. Additionally, in September 2021, they obtained the Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) certification from ISACA.
