Joel Schoen

Joel Schoen has over 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Joel began their career in 2004 as Vice President of Real Estate and Business Development for Abercrombie & Kent Destinations, where they managed a portfolio of 200+ properties in 30+ global destinations and launched the company's vacation rental and property management operations. In 2007, they joined One Key as Senior Vice President of Business Development and was a member of the executive team. Joel was responsible for business development with hospitality providers in 30+ of the world's top resort destinations, which increased the number of properties from under 10 to 500+ properties within the first year. In 2009, Schoen co-founded Trusted Escapes, Inc., where they developed the business plan, corporate strategy, technology plan, marketing plan, and financial model. Joel then joined Inspirato with American Express in 2012 as Vice President of Real Estate, where they led business development for the supply of properties for a luxury travel firm. In 2013, they became Vice President of Development for Luxe Hotels and LE Hotels. In 2014, they were Senior Director of Portfolio and Business Development at Luxury Retreats, where they developed the strategic plan, built the team, and led the sales efforts that grew the company's vacation rental portfolio by 30%+ in the first 12 months. In 2016, Schoen joined Choice Hotels International as Senior Director of Vacation Rentals Strategy & Business Development. In 2019, they took on the roles of Principal at STR Ventures Group, LLC and Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships at BookingPal. Most recently, in 2021, they became Senior Vice President of Distribution and Head of LoveRentals at CiiRUS Vacation Rental Software.

Joel Schoen received their MBA in Finance from USC Marshall School of Business in 2002. In 2000, they earned a Master of Real Estate Development from USC Dollinger. Joel also holds a Bachelor of Science from New York University from 1994 and a Certificate from Cornell University in Hotel Real Estate Investments & Asset Management.
