Harold Brown has dedicated their career to diversity and inclusion. Harold is currently the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
Previously, Harold served as Vice President, Strategy and Policy at Interact for Health from January 2020 to August 2020. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve health equity in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
Before that, Harold was the Senior Officer for the Advancement of Underserved Learners at KnowledgeWorks from July 2015 to January 2017. In this role, they worked to increase access to quality education for all students, with a focus on those from underserved communities.
From August 2000 to April 2007, Harold served as Vice President/Senior Program Officer - School Improvement Division at KnowledgeWorks Foundation. In this role, they oversaw a portfolio of school improvement grants totaling $40 million.
From March 1999 to July 2000, Harold was the Associate Director for Multicultural Admission and Enrollment Services at Miami University. In this role, they recruited and enrolled undergraduate students from underrepresented groups.
Harold began their career at Miami University in 1994 as the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs. In this role, they provided administrative support to the Vice President and managed special projects.
Most recently, Harold served as Vice President, Community Strategies at the Greater Cincinnati Foundation from June 2018 to January 2020. In this role, they oversaw the Foundation's grantmaking and community engagement work in the areas of education, workforce development, and community revitalization.
Harold is a founding member of EDWorks, a subsidiary of KnowledgeWorks, where they served as president from April 2007 to July 2015. EDWorks is an organization that provides early childhood education, college readiness, and career pathways programs for low-income students in Greater Cincinnati.
Harold Brown has a mini-MBA from the Miami University School of Business, a master's in business administration from Harvard Business School, and a bachelor's degree in government from Harvard University.
