Karen Lough has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Karen began their career with Sunworld Holidays Ltd as an Overseas Travel Representative, Resort Administrator, and eventually Resort Manager. Karen then worked as a Customer Service Agent at British Airways before joining Dixon Motors plc as a Trainer and HR Manager, where they focused on delivering effective learning and development programs. Following this, Karen became a Lecturer and Programme Leader at Doncaster College and University Centre. Karen then ventured into retail business ownership with Utopia Soft Furnishings. Afterward, they joined iQ Student Accommodation as a Performance and Development Manager, where they managed a team and designed and delivered learning solutions. Karen is currently working as the Head of Learning and Development at Ciphr.

Karen Lough's education history begins with their high school education at Beeslack High School from 1985 to 1991. Karen went on to pursue a CIPD Certificate in Personnel & Development from Doncaster College & University Centre in 2001-2002, specializing in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration.

In 2013-2015, Karen obtained an Associate's Degree in Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching from Doncaster College & University Centre. Subsequently, in 2018-2019, they pursued CIPD Qualifications and earned a Level 5 Diploma in L&D (Learning and Development).

Alongside their formal education, Karen has also acquired certifications. In September 2017, they became a Mental Health First Aider through Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England. Additionally, in September 2018, they obtained the Insights Discovery Client Practitioner certification from Insights Discovery.
