The company was founded in June 2005 as a joint venture between Quality Chemicals Limited (QCL), a private limited company incorporated in Uganda for the importation and distribution of pharmaceutical drugs, and Cipla Ltd, a leading Indian pharmaceutical company. The joint venture then attracted Capitalworks and TLG Capital Investment each with a vision to have Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Limited a center of pharmaceutical manufacturing excellence in the region.
