Rob Baxter has held various roles in the technology sector since 1998. Rob began their career as a Senior Consultant at Whittman-Hart / marchFIRST, followed by Senior Software Engineer at Sonexis. In 2003, they moved to Fidelity Investments as a Product Engineer. In 2005, they joined State Street Global Advisors as Vice President, where they were responsible for standing up front office trading and analytics systems. In 2007, they founded RJB Capital LLC, where they created a financial asset research platform with integrated tick data warehouse. In 2016, they took on the role of Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology, teaching students to apply machine learning techniques to the financial domain. Since 2013, they have been with Eze Software (SS&C Eze, a unit of SS&C Technologies), where they have held various roles, including Director of Engineering, Cloud Investment Systems and Director of Engineering, Execution Management Systems. Most recently, they were appointed Chief Technology Officer at CircleBlack, Inc. in 2023.

Rob Baxter obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Skidmore College between 1994 and 1998. Rob then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business between 2003 and 2005. In 2014, they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science and Machine Learning from the College of Computing at Georgia Tech. In addition, they hold certifications from the CFA Institute (Claritas, obtained in October 2016), Scrum Alliance (Certified Scrum Master, obtained in July 2015), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) (Series 3).
