Rick Aguirre

Rick Aguirre is co-founder and president of Cirries. With more than thirty years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Rick has a successful record of developing and advancing companies that have emerging, industry-changing technologies. He also held a number of key positions in large telecommunications equipment manufacturers. He began his career at Datapoint Corporation’s Integrated Electronic Office Systems Group. Rick joined Northern Telecom (Nortel Networks) in 1983 and spent eight years in engineering, product management and sales and marketing management positions. He served as director of cellular sales and later was named director, strategic marketing in the newly formed Wireless Systems Division. Rick was instrumental in forging relationships with Qualcomm and PacTel Cellular, which helped elevate Northern Telecom to one of the premier wireless manufacturers. In 1991, Rick became a partner in SCS Mobilecom, a CDMA research and development company, which was sold to InterDigital, Inc. (“IDCC”) in 1992. He left InterDigital in 1993 and founded a telecommunications consulting company, which represented a consortium of companies in the development of several key wireless standards, including WIMS/W-CDMA and 802.11. More recently and prior to co-founding Cirries, Rick served as vice president, product management and Marketing for jNetX, Inc., and as vice president and general manager of Protek Limited’s Americas Group, a Warburg-Pincus company.
