Andrew Petruska is an accomplished academic and engineer, currently serving as an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines since July 2016, after progressing from an Assistant Professor role. Prior to this position, Andrew was a Fellow at the Max Planck ETH Center for Learning Systems and completed a postdoctoral research position at ETH Zurich. Andrew's early academic background includes a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Robotics from the University of Utah, where research involved developing advanced electromagnet systems. Andrew's professional experience includes roles as a Mechanical & Ordnance Design Engineer at ATK, and consulting as an Engineering Consultant for Daedalus. Furthermore, Andrew held engineering internships with multiple companies, including Alcoa and Tactair Fluid Controls, focusing on various mechanical design projects. Andrew's educational foundation is robust, with dual bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Physics, as well as a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
