Derek Corbett

Derek Corbett has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Derek currently works at Citadel Securities as the Head of APAC Market Structure Research, a position they have held since January 2023. Prior to this role, they were the Low Latency Trading and Research, APAC Lead from September 2021 to January 2023, and before that, they worked as a Market Structure Analyst from February 2019 to September 2021.

Before joining Citadel Securities, Derek worked at Optiver Asia Pacific for several years. Derek'sroles at Optiver included Senior Software Specialist - Hong Kong Equities from February 2017 to April 2018, Senior Software Specialist - Data Services from July 2016 to February 2017, and Senior Software Specialist (高级软件专家) from June 2015 to July 2016. Prior to these roles, they worked in autotrading roles, including Korean Index Derivatives Autotrading from January 2012 to June 2015 and Equity Derivatives Autotrading from July 2011 to January 2012. Derek also served as the Leader of a small team of research developers, conducting quant pricing and trading strategy research, testing, and product development, from January 2010 to July 2011. Derek started their career at Optiver as a Research Developer from April 2009 to January 2010 and an IT Developer from March 2007 to April 2009.

In addition to their experience in the finance industry, Derek also has experience as a Founder of two companies. Derek founded Scroll Interactive in June 2010 and Ad Loc Networks in April 2007. Derek held the role of Founder in both companies until January 2012 and June 2010, respectively.

Early in their career, Derek worked as a Researcher at Smart Internet Technology CRC from April 2003 to March 2007 and as a Software Engineer at Sensory Networks from November 2006 to February 2007. In the latter role, they were responsible for developing a compiler for security rules and software lead for maintaining a library for compiling Perl Compatible Regular Expressions for network security software and hardware.

Overall, Derek Corbett's work experience showcases their expertise in market structure research, low latency trading, software development, autotrading, and leadership roles.

Derek Corbett completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Sydney from 2003 to 2007. During their time there, they also spent a year in 2005 at RWTH Aachen University as part of their Ph.D. program. Earlier in their education, from 1999 to 2002, Derek earned a Bachelor of Science (Adv) degree in Computer Science and Chemistry from the University of Sydney.
