Cities United
Anthony Smith is an experienced leader in violence prevention and community engagement, currently serving as the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cities United since November 2015. This national movement, launched in 2011, aims to reduce violence among African American men and boys in American cities, with 56 participating mayors targeting a 50% reduction by 2020. Prior to Cities United, Smith was the Director for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods at Louisville Metro Government, where responsibility included overseeing a citywide violence prevention plan and developing the One Love Louisville campaign. Smith's background also includes roles such as Director of Network Organizing at the Network Center for Community Change, Career Planner Coordinator for Youth Opportunities Unlimited at Jefferson County Public Schools, and Career Agent Supervisor at the Louisville Urban League, all focused on youth development and community collaboration. Smith holds a BA in Political Science from Northern Kentucky University.
