Curt Savoie has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Curt started their career in 2002 as a Claims Analyst at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield before moving on to work as an Information Systems Analyst and Database Administrator at SSM Health Care - St. Louis. In 2007, they served as a Senior Data Analyst at American Student Assistance.
In 2008, Curt became the Principal Data Scientist for the City of Boston, where they played a crucial role in developing Boston as a leader in analysis, data science, and open data. During their time there, they collaborated with civic tech and academic communities to leverage the city's vast data assets for the benefit of its constituents. In the same year, they also worked as a Technical Specialist and Data Architect at Book of Odds Enterprises, Inc.
In 2016, Curt became the Principal Data Scientist and Director of the Massachusetts Data Office for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Curt managed a team of data scientists, engineers, analysts, and visualization professionals and directed program areas related to data science and analytics, open data, dashboards, BI, API and microservice infrastructure, and digital/web analytics.
Curt's work at the Massachusetts Department of Revenue began in 2017 when they became the Chief Analytics Officer, the first of its kind in the state. Curt reported directly to the Department of Revenue Commissioner and strategically invested in technology and people for cross-domain/functional teams. Curt developed a strategic roadmap for analytics, managed agile projects, provided mentorship to analytics professionals, and ensured the well-managed and organized accessibility of data assets.
Alongside their role at the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, Curt also worked as a lecturer at Northeastern University from 2017 to 2018, teaching "Big Data for Cities" as part of the Public Policy/Urban Informatics program.
In 2018, Curt joined IDC as a Program Director, where they focused on Global Smart Cities Strategies until 2022.
Currently, Curt serves as the Chief Product Officer at Citizen Data, a role they started in 2022. Curt manages Citizen's product vision and technology portfolio, rapidly growing the data, research, and product teams to bring cutting-edge insights to the non-partisan political world. Their responsibilities include managing research team functions, leading database, data science, and cloud-infrastructure planning, focusing on data product releases, guiding web development and data visualization product development, and implementing team-wide agile approaches to product efforts.
Curt Savoie attended Boston University and obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science. Curt then pursued further studies at the same university, earning a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science.
