Adrienne Porter

Adrienne Porter is the Director of Educator Development at Citizen Schools. Adrienne has dedicated their career to impacting the futures of middle school students in underserved communities across America.

Adrienne began their career as a Teaching Fellow with Citizen Schools in September 2015. In this role, they were responsible for leading a 7th grade English Language Arts classroom during the extended day programming. Adrienne brought hands-on learning and real-world application to academic subjects, and created innovative and interactive lessons for middle school students.

In 2016, Adrienne became a Teaching Fellow for 6th grade Mathematics. In this role, they were responsible for leading a 6th grade Mathematics classroom during the extended day programming, as well as one-on-one guided reading courses to 6th and 7th grade students. Adrienne continued to bring hands-on learning and real-world application to academic subjects, and create innovative and interactive lessons for middle school students.

In 2017, Adrienne became a Citizen Teacher Lead. In this role, they supported teammates on Citizen Teacher relationships and apprenticeship lesson planning through peer coaching, and coordinated campus Apprenticeship logistics with fellow Citizen Teacher Leads and Regional Civic Engagement Coordinators. Adrienne also conducted recruitment of volunteer Citizen Teachers to work with Global Technology Preparatory Middle School in New York, NY. In addition, they audited apprenticeship data using Salesforce technology.

Adrienne’s dedication to their students has helped countless young people succeed in their academic pursuits. Adrienne is an excellent educator and an asset to any team.

Adrienne Porter attended Spelman College, a historically black college for women, where they received their Bachelor of Arts in Psychology pre law.
