Laura Shek has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Laura began their career as a Program Leader at Littleton Public Schools from 2005 to 2007. Following that, they worked as a Program Leader at YMCA of Boulder Valley from 2007 to 2008. Laura then joined the University of Colorado Boulder as an Employer Relations Intern from 2009 to 2010. Laura gained research experience as a Research Assistant at Dr. Davies Laboratory from 2010 to 2010. Laura'spassion for healthcare led their to Children's Hospital Colorado, where they held various roles including Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute Administration Intern, Healthy Kids Program Assistant, Research and Prevention Coordinator, Prevention, Education and Outreach Coordinator, and Sr. Prevention, Education and Outreach Coordinator from 2010 to 2020. Currently, Laura works at the City and County of Broomfield as a Public Health Emergency Preparedness Specialist since September 2020 and recently took on the role of Public Health and Emergency Operations Coordinator from August 2022. Overall, Laura's experience demonstrates a strong commitment to health and education.

Laura Shek attended the University of Colorado Boulder from 2006 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. During their time at the university, Laura also completed a minor in Business Administration and Management, General. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Youth Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare in May 2013, Safe Travel For All Children from Riley Hospital For Children and Safe Kids Worldwide in April 2011, and Child Passenger Safety Technician from Safe Kids Worldwide in January 2011.
