Arlene Medrano

Arlene Medrano has a diverse work experience in various roles. Arlene currently holds the position of Chief Administrative Officer at the City of Alice, TX since April 2022. Previously, they worked as the Mayor’s Chief of Staff at the City of Corpus Christi from February 2021 to April 2022.

Before that, Arlene had a long tenure at the City of Corpus Christi starting in 2014. Arlene held multiple roles including Business Liaison, where they supported economic development projects, downtown re-development, and tourism. Arlene also served as the Senior Management Assistant and Budget Administrator for the Corpus Christi Fire Department, overseeing a budget of $52 million. Additionally, Arlene worked as an Executive Assistant to the Assistant City Manager, providing support to various city departments and coordinating special projects.

Prior to their time at the City of Corpus Christi, Arlene worked as a Strategic Planning & Assessment Graduate Assistant at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. During this role, they collaborated on strategic plans, conducted program assessments, and facilitated program reviews.

Arlene's earlier experiences include working as a Program Coordinator at Texas A&M University, where they organized internships for students in policy-related fields, and as a Legal Assistant at a Personal Injury Law Office, where they increased office efficiency and handled legal documents.

Arlene started their career as a Resident Coordinator at the Santa Chiara Study Center, managing operations and fostering community connections. Arlene also gained experience as an intern at the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Organization Affairs, conducting research on U.S. democratization efforts abroad.

Arlene Medrano obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University, which they attended from 2005 to 2009. Arlene later pursued a Master's degree in Public Administration at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi from 2013 to 2015. Prior to their higher education, Arlene Medrano received a high school diploma from W.B. Ray High School in 2005. In 2021 and 2022, they participated in a City Leadership program at Harvard Business School Executive Education.
