Mike Nelson

Director Of Community Events at City of Aurora

Mike Nelson has a diverse work experience with a focus on community events and special events coordination. Mike started their career in 2009 with the City of Aurora in the Public Works department, where they worked until 2014. In 2015, they interned as a Front of House Intern at the Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA). Mike then joined the City of Aurora again in 2016 as a Special Events Coordinator in the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs/Division of Special Events. Mike was promoted to Community Events Manager in 2022 and is currently serving as the Director of Community Events since May 2023.

Mike Nelson earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from Waubonsee Community College between 2009 and 2013. Following this, from 2014 to 2016, they attended Columbia College Chicago where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations.
