Cara Bertron

Cara Bertron is a Senior Planner at the City of Austin, specializing in Displacement Prevention and serving as the Deputy Preservation Officer since May 2017. Responsibilities include leading public engagement, managing the local historic district program, and ensuring compliance with preservation standards. In addition, Cara serves as an Advisor to the National Trust for Historic Preservation and previously directed the Preservation Rightsizing Network, focusing on revitalizing legacy cities. Other relevant experience includes roles at Historic Seattle, SCIDPDA, PlaceEconomics, and the University of Pennsylvania, contributing to research, community projects, and historic preservation initiatives. Cara holds a B.A. in Urban Planning from Stanford University and an M.S. in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.
