DEI Community Outreach And Engagement Administrator at CITY OF BELLEVUE

Justin Chan has a diverse work experience, starting in 2010 as the IT Director for the Young Democrats of Washington. Justin later served as the Executive Assistant for the Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, where they conducted administrative tasks and supported statewide initiatives. Justin also served as a Commissioner for the City of Seattle Immigrant and Refugee Commission in 2013. In the same year, they worked as a Legislative Assistant for the Seattle City Council, organizing community outreach efforts and advising the Councilmember on community issues. In 2014, they were the Manager of Corporate Services, Marketing, & Communications for the Northwest Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council, where they focused on corporate relations and supplier diversity. From 2015 to 2018, they held roles in the Washington State Department of Early Learning, serving as a Program Specialist and later as the Interim Equity and Professional Development Administrator. Most recently, starting in November 2021, they became the DEI Community Outreach and Engagement Administrator for the City of Bellevue, Washington. In this role, they provide oversight and guidance in enhancing outreach and engagement efforts to build relationships with under-represented communities and increase diverse populations' participation in local government.

Justin Chan, EMPA, CDE®, has a comprehensive education history. Justin completed their Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) degree from the University of Washington from 2019 to 2021, specializing in Public Administration. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the same institution between 2006 and 2010. Their major was in Political Economy, with a minor in Music. Before attending the University of Washington, Justin attended Clark College from 2004 to 2006, where they obtained a General Education degree, an A.A.

In addition to their formal education, Justin Chan has earned certification as a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) from the Institute for Diversity Certification in September 2018. Furthermore, they have pursued additional studies in Public Policy at the University of Washington, Bothell, although specific details regarding completion are not available.
