Butch Batchelder

Butch Batchelder has extensive work experience in human resources, with a focus on talent acquisition and retention, employee and labor relations, compensation, benefits, training and development, and performance management. Butch currently serves as the Director of Human Resources for the City of Cañon City, where they oversee all HR programs and functional areas. Prior to this role, Butch worked as a Senior Human Resource Analyst for the City of Pueblo and as a Senior Human Resource Professional & Adjunct Faculty at Pueblo Community College. Butch also served as a Board Member for the Pueblo Depot Activity Development Authority. Butch's career in HR spans over 17 years, with a strong emphasis on driving organizational success through effective people management.

Butch Batchelder obtained their Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a focus on Economics and Finance from Colorado State University-Pueblo, where they studied from 2002 to 2004. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2002, they earned two associate degrees - one in General Studies and another in Applied Science - from Pueblo Community College, with a field of study in Accounting and Business Management respectively. Later, from 2007 to 2009, Butch pursued a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

In addition to their academic achievements, Butch also holds several certifications. In 2022, they obtained the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM. A year earlier, in 2021, they achieved the Senior Professional in Human Resources® (SPHR®) Certification from HRCI. Furthermore, in 2020, they received the Senior Certified Professional (IPMA-SCP) certification from the INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION FOR HR.
