Anitha Ajay has a diverse range of work experience spanning different industries.

Anitha started their career as a Graduate Engineer at Baker Homes in 1998 before moving on to work as an Engineer at Jack Constructions from 1999 to 2000. Anitha then joined G Santhosh Kumar & Associates (Architects) as an Engineer from 2000 to 2001.

In 2003, Anitha worked as a Retail Salesperson at Computer World for a brief period. Anitha then transitioned into the corporate world, taking on roles at Australia Post as a Mail Processor from April to December 2004 and at Coles Myer Accounting Services as an Invoice Processor from June 2004 to September 2005.

Anitha entered the government sector in 2005 as a Traffic Engineer at the City of Stonnington, where they assessed town planning applications and responded to traffic and parking management queries until June 2008.

From 2008 to 2011, Anitha worked as a Senior Traffic Engineer at the City of Casey, actively participating in the development of traffic management measures and successfully seeking funds for projects under the Blackspot program. Anitha also played a key role in developing the Resident Permit Parking Policy.

Anitha then took on various leadership roles within the City of Casey, serving as a Team Leader in Traffic Operations from 2011 to 2016 and then as the Acting Team Leader of the Project Hub & Capital Works in 2021. Anitha most recently held the position of Team Leader Traffic & Drainage Operations from 2017 to 2022, where they coordinated operational responses for traffic, parking, public lighting, and drainage matters.

In their current role as the Head of Transport at the City of Casey, Anitha provides strategic direction and oversees the Transport Planning, Traffic Operations, and Major Transport Project teams. Anitha ensures a cohesive approach is taken by these teams and supports the state's major road and rail projects.

Anitha Ajay started their education at Holy Angels Convent from 1980 to 1991, where they completed their Kinder to Year 10 education in the Catholic Education System. Anitha then attended Government Women's College from 1991 to 1993 and completed their Pre-degree education. Anitha continued their education at the National Institute of Technology (formerly known as REC) in Calicut from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering. Lastly, they pursued a Master's degree in Traffic Engineering from Monash University from 2006 to 2009.
