Stephen Hanuscin, PE has over 15 years of experience in the field of traffic engineering. Stephen began their career at BGE, Inc. in 2005, where they provided engineering and design services for public sector projects in Texas. During their time at BGE, Inc., they worked on optimizing signal timings on various corridors in Austin and Houston, as well as assisting with a city-wide effort to replace signal controllers.
In 2014, Stephen joined the City of Cedar Park as a Senior Traffic Engineer. Stephen was responsible for supervising traffic management center and signal maintenance staff, as well as managing engineered systems related to traffic control devices. Some of their notable projects included the citywide replacement of traffic signal cabinets, conversion of left-turn signals to flashing yellow arrows, and the design and installation of traffic signals and school zones.
In April 2020, Stephen was promoted to Assistant Director of Public Works - Field Operations at the City of Cedar Park. In this role, they oversee the city's field operations divisions, including street maintenance, traffic signal maintenance and operation, fleet maintenance, facility maintenance, and stormwater management. Stephen also manages engineered systems and projects related to pavement repair, ADA compliance, drainage improvements, and network infrastructure.
Throughout their career, Stephen has collaborated with various departments, agencies, and partner organizations to coordinate efforts and ensure efficient operations. Stephen has a strong track record of implementing and improving traffic signal coordination along arterial routes.
Stephen Hanuscin, PE received their Bachelor of Science degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Houston in 2006. In 2010, they obtained their Professional Engineer certification from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. Additionally, in 2012, they obtained multiple certifications in various categories from the Texas Department of Transportation, including Land Planning & Engineering, Feasibility Studies, Traffic Engineering Studies, Traffic Signal Timing, Traffic Control Systems Analysis, Design, & Implementation, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Signing, Pavement Marking, & Channelization, and Signalization.
