Clarksville, Tennessee is a legendary place. Our rich history permeates our riverfront and gorgeous downtown architecture, but it's also prevalent in our people. Home to two Olympic athletes -- both of whom were trailblazers, champions, and indisputable legends -- Clarksville is also home to an Army division filled with some of bravest men and women on the planet. The determination and tenacity found in Pat Head Summitt, Wilma Rudolph, and the troops who serve at Fort Campbell, are what propels our city forward while honoring our past. (Read about these are other impressive Clarksville Connections here.) Established in 1784 at the juncture of the Cumberland and Red Rivers, Clarksville is one of the state's oldest cities. Today, a fully-developed RiverWalk begins at this intersection and tells Clarksville’s story from that historic point. And, it’s the best place around to witness a jaw-dropping river sunset! A short drive northwest of Nashville along I-24, Clarksville is an easy drive for a fun-filled weekend getaway. We're also one of the state's youngest cities with a median age of 30. In Clarksville, this blending of heritage and hipster yields an energy and vibrancy that you simply have to experience for yourself.
