Mike D. Smith

Mike D. Smith is a seasoned public information coordinator currently working for the City of Dallas since June 2023. Prior to this role, Mike served as a secondary school teacher at the Dallas Independent School District from January 2019 to June 2023, teaching courses such as AP Human Geography, Broadcast Journalism, and English/Language Arts. Mike's journalism career spans 15 years at Panhandle PBS, where work included reporting on transportation, government, and education, transitioning from print to television and web production. Additionally, Mike worked as a GIS analyst for the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources from 2002 to 2004. Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography with a minor in political science from Louisiana State University, completed in 2000.
