Mollika Biernat has a diverse work experience spanning across various industries. Mollika began their career in 2004 at Wayne State University Press as an Assistant Acquisitions Editor - Rights & Permissions. Later, they worked as a Freelance Branding Researcher at Applied Storytelling. In 2007, they joined Cengage Learning as a Rights Acquisitions Account Manager and later became a Publisher Relations Manager. Mollika then moved to Issue Media Group, where they served as the Manager of Client Delivery and later as the Director of Development for Model D and Metromode. In 2011, Mollika returned to Cengage Learning as a Content Reuse Specialist and later became a Business Development Manager. Mollika then joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as a Senior Business Analyst in 2014 and later moved on to Cengage Learning again in 2015. Currently, Mollika holds the position of Deputy Director of Continuous Improvement at the City of Detroit, where they previously served as the Interim Director of Continuous Improvement. Throughout their career, Mollika has gained expertise in continuous improvement, lean six sigma, project management, business development, and publishing.
Mollika Biernat earned an MBA in Business and Marketing from Wayne State University in 2006. In the same year, they also completed the Stanford Professional Publishing Course in Book Publishing at Stanford University. Mollika obtained a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (B.MSc.) with a focus on Biology from Western University in 2003. Mollika further enhanced their education by obtaining a Six Sigma Black Belt in Lean Process Improvement & Management from Lawrence Technological University in 2019. Additionally, they hold certifications as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt from Villanova University College of Professional Studies (expected in 2023) and as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (obtained in May 2023).
