Scott L. Shine

Scott L. Shine, AICP has a diverse work history in community development and planning. Their most recent role is as the Director of Community Development at the City of Durango, which they have held since November 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Assistant Director of Community Development at the same organization from September 2021 to November 2022.

Scott has extensive experience with the City of Durango, having worked there since 2013. During their tenure, they held various positions in the Community Development department, including Planning Manager from May 2016 to September 2021, Planner III from January 2015 to May 2016, and Planner II from August 2013 to January 2015.

In addition to their work at the City of Durango, Scott has also been involved in community organizations. Scott L. served as a Funding Committee Member at AidtoAll from June 2020 to June 2021 and as a Janji Corps Ambassador at Janji from September 2014 to January 2018.

Earlier in their career, Scott worked as the Executive Director at the Montrose Downtown Development Authority from July 2011 to August 2013. Scott L. also served as the Race Director at the San Juan Mountain Runners from January 2010 to May 2013.

Prior to their roles in community development and planning, Scott worked as a Senior Planner at the City of Montrose from August 2007 to July 2011, an Assistant Planner at the Lane Council of Governments from September 2005 to May 2007, a Water Resources Planner at Resource Assistance for Rural Environments from September 2004 to September 2005, and a Recreation Researcher at the U.S. Forest Service from April 2004 to September 2004.

Scott L. Shine, AICP completed their Bachelor's degree in an undisclosed field of study at Utah State University, where they attended from 2000 to 2004. Scott L. then pursued a Master's degree in Community and Regional Planning at the University of Oregon from 2005 to 2007. In addition to their academic accomplishments, Shine obtained the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification in October 2008 through the American Planning Association. Furthermore, they received a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate from the University of Utah in August 2023.
