Juan Mendez is a dedicated professional with experience in planning, mentorship, and organizational leadership. Currently serving as a Planning Commissioner for the City of East Palo Alto since May 2019, Juan also co-founded Project K in February 2018, a nonprofit organization aimed at empowering youth in East Palo Alto through meaningful mentorship and connections to professionals. Previously, Juan held the role of President of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity from July 2017 to December 2018, where oversight of the strategic vision and management of a $100,000 annual budget was required. Juan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and is pursuing a Master's degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning at San José State University.
