Dr. Gene A. Simmons is an experienced educator and literacy specialist currently serving the City of Fort Worth as a CFW Literacy Specialist since June 2020, focused on enhancing literacy for K-7th grade students. With a long-standing career in the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) beginning in August 1992, Dr. Simmons has held various roles, including elementary math specialist for 5th grade, data analyst responsible for analyzing student data, test coordinator for assessments, and classroom teacher. Additionally, experience includes a position as a sales representative at McGraw-Hill Education and a recreation leader in summer day camps. Dr. Simmons obtained a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration from Prairie View A&M University, alongside a Master of Education and degrees in Fine Arts and Art.
