Catherine Nguyen

Laboratory Director at City of Glendale Police Department

Catherine Nguyen has a strong background in forensic science and laboratory management. Catherine started their career in 2009 as a Forensic Technologist at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, where they performed serological analysis and laboratory maintenance. In 2010, they joined the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Forensic Scientist, specializing in STR DNA typing and validation of PCR amplification kits and robots. Since 2012, they have been working at the City of Glendale Police Department, starting as a Senior DNA Specialist and progressing to DNA Laboratory Supervisor and Laboratory Director roles. In these positions, Catherine has conducted casework DNA analysis, authored grants, managed internships, and overseen research projects. Catherine has also designed and conducted validation experiments for various DNA testing techniques and equipment.

Catherine Nguyen attended UCLA from 2000 to 2009, where they earned a B.S./PhD degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology.
