Utility Aide at City of Grand Rapids

Mary Ritsema has been a registered certified medical assistant for over 7 years. Mary began their career at Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan in May 2013 and worked there for 2 years before moving to Metro Health in March 2015. At Metro Health, their job duties included rooming patients, taking vital signs, calling in prescriptions, interviewing patients and gathering medical information, drawing blood and preparing lab samples for testing, drawing up meds, assisting the doctor in the procedure room with sterile procedures, educating the patients concerning musculoskeletal and sports injuries, conditions and treatments, fitting patients for orthopedic devices such as braces and crutches, as well as preparing the patient for x-rays, pain injections and explaining the procedure. Mary also handled clerical tasks, which included completing medical insurance forms, requesting medical records, registering patients for their appointments, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, obtaining insurance authorizations, completing patient histories and setting up outpatient testing and referrals as requested by the physician. In June 2016, they left Metro Health to start working as a Utility Aide at the City of Grand Rapids.

Mary Ritsema has an Associate of Arts from Grand Rapids Community College in Arts, Medical Assisting, and General Studies. Mary also has a Diploma in General Studies, Art, and Catholic Central High School. Mary has a Certificate in Registered Certified Medical Assistant from National Allied Health and is certified by the State of Michigan as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Their manager is Alex Fleet, Assistant Water System Manager. They work with Sam Giffel - Administrative Services Officer I, Izamar Contreras-Alvarado - Administrative Analyst, and Chad Reul - Utility Field Operations Superintendent.
