Covering 129.5 square kilometres, the city is home to more than 160,000 residents, with people coming from 157 different birth places and more than half of our residents born overseas. Greater Dandenong is recognised as the capital of the south east and is Victoria’s manufacturing heartland. The city is home to more than 12,500 businesses and in excess of 70,000 people are employed locally. The city boasts 197 parks and 616 hectares of open space, a number of state-of-the-art cultural facilities including the multi-million dollar Drum Theatre, cultural precincts and cuisine, strong retail centres and the iconic Dandenong Market.
